Why would they remove this absolutely must feature from firefox 2?

So here is how you can set this in Firefox 2:

Open about:config and set:

browser.link.open_external -> 3
browser.link.open_newwindow -> 3
browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction -> 2

And you’re done!
